Computed tomography in an assessment of constitutional variants of a skull base

To identify an asymmetry of intrinsic jugular veins osteal canals and jugular notches of a skull base, and to compare obtained results to the phenomena of a temporomandibular joint's dysfunction we conducted this research. For this purpose we performed CT examinations to 1800 patients. Our data testifies that the revealed patterns in a developmental asymmetry of a skull base have a stable, wide-spread character and favour a formation of some morbid conditions, such as vascular disturbances, and muscle-articulate dysfunctions of a temporomandibular joint.
