Changes in gluteal muscles at achondroplasia were studied in 34 patients at different periods of lower limb lengthening using computed tomography (CT), ultrasonography (US) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The findings allowed revealing radiological semiotics of femoral abductors depending on stage of a treatment and a degree of pathological changes in the lower limb. All patients presented changes in shape of gluteal muscles, decrease in cross-section area by 10 to 15% during distraction and fixation, decrease in thickness by 5 to 10%, density – from 20 to 40 HU on CT images, and increased echodensity at ultrasonography. The findings were useful for planning of stages of operative treatment and rehabilitation measures.
