The purpose of this study was to investigate the potential role of CT-perfusion in evaluation of the vascularity of brain metastases in solid part of tumor. We performed CT-perfusion in 36 patients with brain metastases. Research protocol included: CT and perfusion CT (time-series of 40–50 images for 4 slices, thickness 6 mm, time resolution-1s, during the first pass of a iodine contrast media bolus: 40 ml intravenously with rate – 4 ml/s.), and MRI - T1, Т2, Т2-FLAIR, DWI, T1+Gd. In all cases the diagnoses were verified. Our main findings reveal statistically significant differences in the vascularity of solid parts of the metastases. CBV (mean+/-sd): max and min values in mts of kidney and ovary (21.01+/-6.21 and 5.34+/-1.45 ml/100g), respectively, mts of melanoma showed a high deviations of CBV (15.03+/-9,7 ml/100g). CBF: max and min values were observed in mts of melanoma and ovary (113,99+/-24,25 and 49,51+/-19,6 ml/100g/min) respectively. Max values of MTT were found in kidney mts (18.5+/-1,37 sec.) and min in melanoma and uterus mts (5.1+/-2.1 and 5,36+/-0,74 sec.). CT perfusion adds important physiological information and demonstrates differences in vascularity of brain tumors.
