MR imaging and MR spectroscopy of brain in children under traumatic head injury were performed. According to diagnostic MRI, patients were classified into three groups norm, mild injury and severe injury. Spectra were registered in normal appearing gray matter, white matter and hippocampus. Statistically significant decrease of Nacetyl aspartate (NAA) level was observed in gray matter of patients with mild and severe injury (in 8% and 16% respectively). The level of choline containing compounds was reliably increased under severe injury in white matter, gray matter and hippocampus in 34%, 26% and 18% respectively. The correlation link (correlation coefficient R = 0.74) was found between NAA and Cho under mild injury.
