Interventional radiology of the biliary system especially that of calculus disease is nowadays a special part of radiology which does not only include the diagnostic examinations but also offers alternative therapeutic management in cases which needed endoscopic or surgical approach some years ago. Lately with the development of new equipment and materials the possibilities of efficient procedures have increased. In this paper, we will describe diagnostic procedures such as percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography as well as therapeutic interventions like percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage, stent placement, cholangioplasty and percutaneous lithotripsy.
