The conventional methods for diagnosis of a vasculogenic erectile dysfunction (ED) are ultrasonography and X-ray radiography. However, they may be not successful for a topical diagnosis of cavernous venous leakage. Authors report the first experience of MRI application for diagnosis of the venogenic ED. MRI was performed at 28 patients with suspected by ultrasonography venous leakage from corpora cavernosa. The information obtained from a previous cavernosography was lack. Before fulfilling MRI a pharmacocavernosography was performed which consisted in intracavernous injection of 0.5 mol and 1 mol (Gadovist) gadolinium contained paramagnetic contrast agents. Topical localization of the pathological cavernous veno-occlusive disorders was obtained at all of the patients. These results allowed adjusting the traditional scheme of the diseases’ correction. Authors are convinced that inclusion of MRI in diagnostic algorithm will open new perspectives for diagnosis and treatment of the venogenic ED.
