Changes in Tactics of Radiological Survey at Diagnostics of Wilms' Tumor in Children

For the last 10 years in the center of oncohematology of Chelyabinsk 56 children with Wilms' tumor in the age of 3 months till 7 years were observed. Local spread of the disease was defined after performing of a complex of diagnostic procedures. Until recently the algorithm of diagnostics of Wilms' tumors included besides physical and laboratory tests, the following methods of visualization: ultrasonography, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Assessment of the functional state of a kidney was fulfilled with the help of excretory urography (EU), radionuclide renal imaging (renal dynamic scintigraphy). The listed techniques allowed to reveal tumor, to define its localization and spread with the involvement of surrounding tissues and vessels and to evaluate a functional state of the involved kidney. The algorithm of diagnostics of nephroblastoma changed since multislice CT appeared. Ultrasonography provides an initial revealing of a tumor, and multislice CT allows to define a degree of its spread. All this results in a shortening of the preoperative stage due to acceleration of diagnostic quest, and to a decrease of radiation exposure as well.
