7th Annual International “PACS–2007” Conference. Analytical Review

The next, 8th Conference will change it's name into “DHIMS-2008. Former PACS”. The new acronym that was first proposed in 2005 stands for Digital Healthcare Information and Management System and represents a comprehensive set of hardware and software elements that is responsible for acquiring, communicating, storing, retrieving and managing medical data. Currently all healthcare specialists that deal with medical IT, especially in the field of radiology, face: constantly changing healthcare environment, rapid technology advancement resulting in rapid obsolescence, lack of integration, high user expectations and exponential growth of diagnostic image volumes. All of the above challenge all medical information technology solutions and require a higher level of expertise among medical specialists. Annual conferences organized by the University of Rochester, NY follow an educational approach in all aspects of planning, deploying, implementing and using IT systems in the environment of any radiology department. This review is intended to provide the up-to- date information out of materials presented at the conference.
