The aim of the study was to evaluate diagnostic possibilities of MRI and CT in detection of pseudocapsule of renal tumors. MRI and CT were performed in 83 patients with renal tumors and compared with pathology. MRI detected pseudocapsule in 11 patients (68.7%) with tumor diameter 3 cm and in 18 patients (26.9%) with mass >3 cm. In none of the patients CT was able to detect the tumor’s pseudocapsule. Pseudocapsule was typical for well-differentiated tumors. Use of MRI may be helpful in patients with renal tumors especially for planning of the organ-preserving operations.
