The introduction of multislice CT initiated a new era in CT imaging. This now produces a multitude of high quality post-processing imaging possibilities, such as multiplanar reformatting (MPR), maximum intensity projection (MIP) and minimum intensity projection (mIP), as well as 3-D imaging techniques such as shaded surface display (SSD) and volume rendering (VR), which require new ways of dealing with the primary thin slices to produce secondary thin as well as thick slices. This article provides the possibilities for correct post-processing to create optimum results for diagnosis, intervention and other treatments. In addition, it redefines the basic ingredients such as voxel and slice in the spiral multislice CT environment.
