Object: To assess the role of modern diagnostic modalities: computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging in the diagnostics and management of multiple myeloma (MM) and to investigate how this method can influence the clinical approach, prognosis and treatment. Although patients, who have multiple myeloma, usually have straigh-forward clinical symptoms and corroborative MRI or CT findings, in some instances, these patients present atypically. We reviewed cases of 46 patients who had multiple myeloma and had undergone MRI and CT examinations, assessing the value of those examinations. MRI and CT examinations of a skeleton accurately demonstrate the extent of the disease (diffuse or focal involvement) and the presence of associated compression fractures and cord compression.
