Purpose: To study potentials of 18FFDG PET imaging in differential diagnostics of different nosologic forms of a dementia. Material and methods: 18FFDG PET imaging was performed in 33 patients with different clinical forms of a dementia. The findings of PET imaging were compared to results of clinical examination (short scale of a mental state, complex scale of a dementia by Mattis and others). Results: Due to the performed examinations we chose several types of altered metabolism, typical for the most common forms of a dementia (Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, frontotemporal dementia and Levi's disease). Conclusion: 18FFDG PET imaging allows differentiating various forms of a dementia at the initial stage of the neurodegenerative disease.
