CT Semiotics of Bone Destruction in Chronic Osteomyelitis Developed after Hematogenic one

We studied main quantitative and qualitative characteristics of femoral bone destruction in chronic hematogenic osteomyelitis: localization, spread, type of destruction process, density indexes (Hounsfield unit) of destructive focuses and surrounding bony tissues. Radiograms of 39 patients at the age of 10 to 64 were studied using polypositioned radiography, linear tomography, CT methods. It was found that in most of the cases 84.6% of femoral bone was damaged at diaphysial and distal metaphysial areas. In 44% a knee joint was involved in septic process. The damage of proximal metaphysial area was observed rarely, in 7.7% and in 100% it accompanied by coxarthritis. In 59.3% there was a combination of large central cavity destruction with small focuses of cortical layer destruction.
