Diagnostics of Developmental Stages of Carotid Arteries' Atherosclerosis Plaques on the Basis of Their Morphological and Mathematical Description

Morphological macro- and microscopic examination of an operational specimen of carotid arteries and ultrasonography allow diagnosing stages of complicated and uncomplicated atherosclerosis plaque. One define a stage of easily vulnerable plaques in the morphogenesis of atherosclerosis plaques of carotid arteries that's characterized by a critical thinning of a fibrous layer in separate fields, more often in the peripheral departments of a plaque, intensifying of the destructive processes in a lipid nucleus, a decrease of a number of cellular elements in central departments of a plaque. Ultrasonography of carotid arteries does not diagnose easily vulnerable plaque confidently. Information analysis allowed to range uncomplicated, complicated and easily vulnerable atherosclerosis plaques on ascending a degree of indeterminacy. The greatest value of entropy in a group of easily vulnerable atherosclerosis plaques testifies that this stage of atherosclerosis is transient, and easily vulnerable plaque progresses to a complicated plaque. A morphological diagnostics of easily vulnerable atherosclerosis plaque of carotid arteries is possible when the fibrous layer's depth doesn't exceed 12,41 ± 0,07 microns, and quotient of a plaque's protrusion isn't less than 1,4 ± 0,4 units.
