Radiotherapy was performed to all 72 patients with expressed back pain, caused by a metastatic tumor of a spine. Among them there were 19 men (26%) with prostate cancer, 7 men with lung cancer, 27 women (37%) with breast cancer and 2 women with uterine carcinoma. In 3-4 weeks after termination of radiotherapy a control MRI of a spine was performed to all of the patients. Among patients with the expressed positive effect we observed a decrease of a compression of a dural sac and a reduction of neural sleeves edema in 52 patients (72%). In 4 persons (5%) with negative effect of radiotherapy we could visualize on MRI an increase of tumor sizes, with compression of a spinal cord and liquor block. The best analgesia was achieved when radiotherapy had been performed in a mean fractionating regimen, which was confirmed with positive changes at control MRI examination.
