The Role of Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Differentiation of the Third Stage Lung Cancer

The possibilities of non-contrast MR-ngiography in dif-ferentiation of the third stage lung cancer are shown. Results are analyzed in 62 patients. Insignificant and expressed mediastinal invasion were diagnosed in 50 patients. It allowed to evaluate diagnostic efficacy of MRI. In detection of the invasion of vessels, pericardium and myocardium the MRI sensitivity was 88%, specificity – 90% and accuracy – 89%. MRI sensitivity in detection of the thoracic wall insignificant invasion was 80% and intrathoracic lymphadenopathy – 91.1%. Additional information was observed due to evaluation of extrapleural, extravascular and epicardial fat of pleura, vessels and myocardium in MR negative images.
